What You Don't Know About Evangelicals

The hottest conversational topic among Christian cultural analysts is the hostility of postmoderns toward organized Christianity.

This morning, I read a fascinating review of The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University.

Author Kevin Roose, a student at Brown University, went undercover at Liberty University to do an expose' of campus evangelical culture.

What he found surprised him. He's still critical of some of the obvious inconsistencies he found at Liberty, but you may find his other discoveries touching. I admire his open-mindedness.

I'm going to have to check this one out. I've had several family members and relatives attend Liberty, and I know some of the faculty. It has as many faults as any other university, but I wouldn't hesitate to send my children there.

Glad to hear that Mr. Roose had an open mind about his experience. I think that's a good thing. In all of us.

Wow.

It's always good to be reminded that there is a life-change difference... something that I often have far too much difficultly seeing in myself.

May we all love that way.

thanks for the link - interesting stuff! Reminded me of John 13:34-35 -
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

"...feels liberated from the secular hook-up culture..."

Wow. For some reason, this line just really hit me hard.

Thanks for the link.

Fascinating! I'm really curious about this...I might have to read it. Since David is a youth minister, we're always aware of the challenge to be a church that can/will reach a post-modern generation. It always helps when we can get a glimpse through their eyes--not that it ever changes the gospel message, but what are they perceiving beyond that.
Our pastor has been challenging us lately to be a church that is real...loving each other and "doing life" together. Sounds like this author found people like that.
